Trisha sends strong defamation notice to politician AV Raju

Former AIADMK functionary AV Raju, courted controversy by making derogatory statements against top South Indian actress Trisha in a YouTube channel interview. Miffed over his ouster from the party he made allegations that in 2017 his former party leaders arranged several top actresses to entertain MLAs housed in the infamous Koovathur resort. The ‘Leo’ actress condemned this on X “Disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention.” She also threatened legal action. AV Raju reacting to the severe backlash on social media rendered an apology claiming that his statements were misconstrued and he never mentioned that an MLA demanded Trisha but someone like her. He stated in Tamil “If I hurt the feelings of the most respectful Trisha I am sorry”.

Trisha’s lawyers have went ahead with the first steps of legal action by sending a strong defamation notice with the compensation amount blacked out. However, AV Raju has been asked to apologize unconditionally within 24 hours through leading print, satellite and internet news agencies that have a minimum of five lakh viewers or readers. He has also been directed to remove all the defaming videos and publications regarding the issue at his own cost and desist from making any statements regarding it henceforth.

AV Raju has also been warned that civil and criminal action would be taken against him if he did not tender an unconditional apology. The defamation notice has been welcomed with much joy from not only Trisha fans but netizens in general.

On the film front, Trisha has completed a majority of her portions in Ajith Kumar’s next biggie ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ directed by Magizh Thirumeni. She is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Thug Life’ costarring Kamal Haasan, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Gautham Karthik and Joju George among others.
