Superstar Rajinikanth is always in the news whether it is regarding his new movies, political affinities, or when he is just having a family outing. The 73-year-old is at the center of yet another controversy as netizens claim that he ill-treated his housemaid.
It is well known that Rajinikanth along with his wife Latha Rajinikanth and daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth attended the lavish pre-wedding of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani with Radhika Merchant. The three-day celebrations started on March 1st and ended on the 3rd with the who-is-who of the Indian cinema, politics, and business world in attendance. The young couple will tie the knot at an even more lavish wedding on July 12th, 2024.
Meanwhile when Rajinikanth, Latha and Aishwarya arrived at the venue in Jamnagar. Gujarat they were asked to pose for a photo. A video doing the rounds on the internet shows that the housemaid who accompanied the Rajinikanth family also joined in for the photo but Rajin gestured her to move aside. Netizens are criticizing the gesture of the Superstar calling it insensitive.
It is also claimed on the internet that the same housemaid was made to stand and watch the blockbuster movie ‘2.0’ in 2018. It was then said that the first family of Kollywood had booked the entire theater for the show and questions were raised why the maid was not allowed to sit and watch the film with her bosses. In reply to these allegations, a photo went viral with Rajini embracing her and bonding with her in his house silencing detractors.
Rajini fans are countering these allegations saying that in the case of the ‘2.0’ controversy the maid may have preferred to stand and watch the film. Similarly Rajini loyalists are also defending him in the current issue that the Superstar may have wanted a family moment and excluded his house help.
Rajini’s last movie ‘Lal Salaam’ directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth was both critically panned and failed at the box office. He is currently in the last leg of shooting for ‘Vettaiyan’ directed by T.J. Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions. The film has music by Anirudh and stars Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubatti, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan. He will begin shooting for his next biggies ‘Thalaivar 171’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and ‘Thalaivar 172’ directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth later this year.
