Ajith Kumar, one of the biggest superstars of Tamil cinema is known to keep a low profile by avoiding any type of public functions or bereavements. However he made a rare public appearance today to pay homage to filmmaker Vetri Duraisamy who passed away tragically in an accident in Himachal Pradesh.
Ajith Kumar along with his wife Shalini Ajith visited the residence of Vetri Duraisamy and consoled his family members. It is well known that Vetri was a close friend and bike-riding partner of Ajith. Vetri’s social media posts often consisted of nature photography and Ajith Kumar. His last post was a retweet of another user’s post about Ajith.
Vetri Duraisamy 45, son of former Chennai Mayor Saithai Duraisamy, went missing on February 4th after the car he was traveling in fell into the river Sutlej. Rescuers have been searching for the missing Vetri for the last several days while the driver Tanjin’s body was found and severely injured co-passenger Gopinath was admitted to a local hospital.
Vetri Duraisamy made his directing debut in the film ‘Endravathu Oru Naal’ starring Vidharth and Ramya Nambesan which found critical acclaim. He is said to have gone for location hunting for his new film and the accident occurred when he was traveling from Kaza to Shimla.
Saithai Duraisamy had announced one crore rupees for information about his only son and family and friends of the deceased hoped that he would return alive. Several politicians and celebrities paid tribute to the deceased.
Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan took X and wrote “The news of the death of Vetri Duraisamy, the son of former Chennai Mayor and friend Saithai Duraisamy, is deeply saddening. It is an unimaginable grief that a young man who was doing his work with dignity at a tender age met his end in such an accident. I console the father who is suffering from the loss of his son with a heavy heart. He should recover from this soon.”
