Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘Mahaan 2’ is happening and the multiple award-winning actor has officially hinted at it on his social media page sending fans on cloud nine. The original film ‘Mahaan’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj was released directly on OTT in 2022 causing huge disappointment to the cast and crew and fans alike. Though the gangster drama received mixed reviews it has gained cult status after record-breaking viewership on Amazon Prime Video.
‘Mahaan’ was produced by Seven Screen Studios with Santhosh Narayanan scoring the music. The film marked the first time that Chiyaan Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram shared screen space. While Vikram played a meek school teacher turned gangster, Dhruv played the cop who was after him. The rest of cast includes Bobby Simha, Simran and Vani Bhojan.
Chiyaan Vikram took to X to share stunning photographs of himself in a new unkempt hairdo and aged look with a cigarette dangling stylishly and coolers making a style statement. He just wrote the cryptic words “Mahaan 2!!?” with a winking emoji to boot.
Sources say that Karthik Subbaraj, Santhosh Narayanan, Seven Screen Studios, Chiyaan and Dhruv along with the other cast and crew will be returning for ‘Mahaan 2’ as well. The official announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
Chiyaan Vikram is currently awaiting the release of his period epic action movie ‘Thangalaan’ directed by Pa. Ranjith which is expected to go to the Oscars. He is currently starring in S.U. Arunkumar’s ‘Chiyaan 62’ also has S.J. Suryah in the cast. Karthik Subbaraj is fresh from the commercial and critical success of ‘Jigarthanda 2’ starring Raghava Lawrence and S.J. Suryah and will apparently direct ‘Mahaan 2’ next.
