Ratan Tata was a famous businessman who was the chairman of the Tata Group and has contributed a lot to its growth. He was born in a wealthy family in Mumbai. Great grandson of Tata Group founder Jamshedji Tata he studied B.Sc in Structural Engineering from Cornell University, USA in 1962. In 1975 from Harvard Business School with an Advanced Management Degree. Joined the Tata Group in 1962. In 1971, he took over as managing director of The National Radio and Electronics Company (Nelco), which was in dire financial straits. Nelko recovered due to his advice. In 1991, he took over as the Chairman of the Tata Group from JRD Tata. He introduced many new projects and increased the company’s income by 10 times. Tata Group acquired foreign companies such as Corus and Jaguar Land Rover.

Tata Group has the highest market capitalization in the stock market. Tata Consultancy Services became a public company under his guidance. Also listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Whenever he saw a middle class family struggling with 4 people on a bike, he was inspired to make a small car at a low cost. This dream became a reality in 1998 in the form of ‘Tata Indica’.
